Patternicity
Created by Charles Ball
Patternicity is a case study of abstract movement in which dancers abandon humanity and meaning in order to reveal what audiences project onto them in viewing. This leaves unidentifiable beings that exist to serve their singular purpose, like cogs in a machine. By breaking down the conventional relations between dancer and audience, and amongst the dancers themselves, all that remains are the empty vessels of the bodies, and the external projections from the viewer. Therefore, the performance is reliant on its symbiotic relationship with the audience, and is complete only when viewers superimpose themselves over the movement.
Music: Luis Miguel Cobo - 'Miro'
